As of today we have ceased using Actinic's inbuilt
Java encryption system which was causing problems
for most users with the new XP operating system.
The
new system uses SSL (secure socket layers) which
has become the industry standard way of encrypting
sensitive information and provides for the well
know
to be displayed in the status bar at the bottom
of your browser when it is in use and for the
address bar to start with 'https' rather then
the usual 'http'.
How
Will This Affect Your Shopping Experience?
The
essence of your shopping experience will not change
in anyway. All of your actual shopping will be
carried out as before, the only difference being
the way we take your cardit card information.
After
you have entered the Checkout process, we will
ask you for your name, address and shipping details
as normal. Only from when you come to the screen
that asks you how you wish to pay for your order
can things be different.
If
you select 'Send Credit Card Details Seperately'
your order will complete without asking for card
details and we will either await information or
contact you to obtain this information.
If
you select 'Credit Card' then
this is where the shopping process alters. Previously
you would have transfered to our payment screen
where the JAVA applet would take your Credit Card
information and Encrypt it before transmission
with your order to our system. Now though the
following will happen, ensuring that all shoppers
benefit from the security of the SSL ,
and that no problems will arise with XP/JAVA:
We
are using the services of a company who are certificated
by Thawte (the company that issues SSL ceritificates).
1.
You will be transferred to 'secure-online-payment'
where your credit card information can be collected
by us in a secure environment.
2.
When you are on the screen that will take your
Credit Information you will see the
in the status bar and 'https' in the address bar
at all times.
3.
Once you have submitted your Credit Card details
you will be transferred back our site where your
receipt will be displayed to confirm that your
order has been completed.
